A new me

This blog is for everything that inspires me.
I am sick of being so overweight, and lazy. I am sick of having to shop in specialist stores for clothing. I am sick of feeling awful every time I step into a store.

My name is Samantha, and I am the heaviest that I have ever been.
I plan to fix this.
I'm doing this for my health and my future.

I have a new fitness regime.

I know it’s really just any other excuse to give something up, but for Lent I am giving up:

  • Sweets
  • Sugary/fizzy drinks
  • Reckless spending
  • Drinking to excess
  • Procrastination

To make sure I keep to it, I’ve asked my boyfriend to come up with a few methods of punishment if I broke any of these. Once he got serious, he suggested that every time I broke one, I threw something of mine away. (within reason) Fair enough, really. I’ve also decided that for every time I break one, I’ll stick £2 into a charity fund box, which will then go to Cancer Research at the end of Lent. :)

I went for an appointment with a trainer to figure out a suitable fitness programme as well. She had me do a fitness test, which involved just walking on a treadmill with a heart monitor on. As expected, my fitness level came out as pretty poor.

The programme she came up with is as follows:

  • 20 minutes on the treadmill (at varying speeds)
  • 10 minutes on the crosstrainer
  • 5 minutes on the rowing machine
  • 30 reps on the pulldown machine
  • 30 reps on the arm extension machine
  • 30 reps on the leg press machine
  • 15 waist twists
  • 15 knee raises
  • 15 stomach crunches
  • 15 reps on the lower back extension machine

This (in theory) should take me about an hour. I’ve told the trainer that I plan on going 5 times a week, so she’s even put an ‘alert’ on my account, so if I miss any days, whenever I come in next, she hunts me down!

I’ve taken a before photo (and also one in my bra and underwear that made me cry) to keep track.

Off to watch Batman and have an early night. Gym at 8am sharp tomorrow!
